Antique Mysteries: Secrets of Howards's Mansion is a hidden object / puzzle game in which you have to restore a priceless collection of antiques left behind in the mansion of recently deceased billionaire Sheldon Howard. He was a pretty eccentric billionaire and his mansion's design is, to say the least, a little unusual. One thing the game does very well is to use the owner's eccentricity to make the mansion you're exploring intriguing.

The hidden object part of the game I found more difficult than usual – in fact even when the hint pointed out an object I still struggled to see it sometimes, there were some very small objects here. Therefore I think this game is more appealing for real fans of hidden object games rather than simply casual gamers. There are a number of puzzles in the game which are, by and large, very well designed and also often quite challenging. I like the fact that it actually took a little thought (and logic!) sometimes to work out which inventory items needed using where – it was a bit more like an adventure game than the somewhat haphazard logic often found in HOGs.
The graphics are beautifully crafted and the music sounds like a John Barry score for a James Bond movie – which is great, if a little repetitive. The interface is fine and the whole game has a very polished feel to it. There are some secrets and surprises in store as you play the game, which helps to keep things interesting.
If you like hidden object games, especially if you like them to be more challenging than usual, Antique Mysteries: Secrets of Howards's Mansion is a game you'll enjoy. Some interest in antiques may help, but it's really not necessary to enjoy the game.
